Tarps, Natural Navigation & Man Made Tinders.
This course is an ideal follow on to our Introduction to Bushcraft Day. You will build your skills in quickly creating a simple tarp shelter, learn useful knots that will aid your setup. We will look at identifying ways to find direction using nature and how to make a selection of tinders you can take with you to aid fire lighting.
Course Description
This course is ideal for extending your Bushcraft knowledge beyond the basics and covers the following:
Tarps and Hammocks
Safety: we will look at choosing a safe location and using the environment to best effect.
Tarps: differences and advantages of them to allow you to choose the tarp best suited to you.
Knots: learn how to quickly make a shelter from a tarp along with several quick useful knots, hitches and lashings.
Hacks: some simple useful hacks to make your tarp setup simple and quick.
Hammocks: we will look at different ways to set up a hammock and tarp for a comfortable nights rest.
Natural Navigation
Landscape: learn how to read the landscape to aid direction finding.
The Sun: ways to identify direction using the sun (if its not sunny we will still manage to do this, honest).
The Moon: how you can use the moon to find direction.
The Stars: identify several key constellations and how to find north / south from them (again, we will manage this even though its day).
Man-made Tinders
Make several different tinders which can be carried and used when more natural tinders are not available.
Experiment with different ignition methods of fire lighting and the best way to make a fire with them.
Friction Fire
Try a more modern day friction fire lighting method, the Fire Role.

This course is aimed at adults and accompanied mid / late teens.
